LEES FIFTH AVE HISTORY

In December of 1930, one of Jamaica's most prolific business men, Abraham Issa opened Issa's of King Street.

People from all over the Island came to Kingston to shop for a wide selection of merchandise at Issa's.

Over the years, Abe opened and acquired many more retail stores, and gradually developed the  name of Issa as a formidable retailer on the Island.

Abe in his later years went on to become the innovator of the first all Inclusive hotel in Jamaica, with Tower Isle, which became Couples Hotel, and is now part of the Couples hotel Group.  Abe became well known as the monarch of tourism in Jamaica and later became known as "Mr. Jamaica".

Lees Fifth Avenue was started 35 years ago by Lee Issa (son of Abe Issa), who is now chairman of the company, as well as chairing the House of Issa Group.

The House of Issa Group includes the All-Inclusive Couples Resorts, Issa Merchant Bank and Trust, Budget Rental Car and Motor Sales Car Company, which has the exclusive franchises for Mercedes Benz, Porsche, and Audi.

Lees Fifth Avenue  is currently undergoing a radical change, firstly with the development of our departmental store complex, which is now the largest store in Jamaica, and houses some of the most well-known brands.

The store features some new and innovative ways of retailing;  the "shop within shop" format has a distinct European feel to it, with brand segmentation within each department.

The store is very aspirational with regards to developing the lifestyles associated with the brands.  This will be the Lees Fifth Avenue  concept in the development of it's new store openings.
